It appears that Jayson Tatum is expecting a lot from himself as well as the entire Boston Celtics roster this season.

The Boston Celtics has some might high expectations last season and they failed to reach them. This year fans definitely aren’t expecting the same result.

Prior to the season the expectation was NBA Finals or bust. With Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward returning this seemed guaranteed. We were sadly mistaken.

The Celtics were a mess last season. They never truly worked as a team, and had an early exit in the postseason. A team that looked like it was going to be the favorite in the East for years to come was dealt a massive reality check.

Now the main stars of the Celtics are Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum. Oh my how things have changed.

Tatum will have a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Having him as your No.2 scorer wasn’t the expectation when he was drafted.

While fans aren’t expecting a whole lot from the team, Tatum definitely has set the bar high for he and his teammates.

Let’s start of with Tatum’s goals for himself. I definitely think he can average 20 points a game. Even though last season he averaged 15.7 points per game, he has shown when given a larger platform he is able to shine.

Last season was the Kyrie Irving show. The ball was constantly in his hands and made it hard for anyone else to get consistent looks.

In his rookie season the playoffs was the Jayson Tatum show. He played amazing and averaged 18.5 points per game. I expect to see that Jayson Tatum this season and think he will eclipse the 20 points per game mark.

Now Tatum being an all-star is a much harder goal to reach. If anyone is going to be an all-star for Boston this season it is going to be Kemba Walker.

Finally there is the goal of reaching the NBA Finals. Right now Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are the kings of the Eastern Conference. After that The C’s and 76ers are neck and neck.

It might be close, but making the NBA Finals would exceed all expectations that Celtics fans have for this team. It would almost take a miracle for the C’s to make it that far.

dark. Next. The case for and against a Bradley Beal trade

We will just have to wait and see if Jayson Tatum will be able to live up to the expectations he has set for himself.
