David Pastrnak is starting to get targeted because of his goal-scoring ability but the Boston Bruins winger needs to be smart and not take any retaliatory penalties.

Being a great hockey player comes with its perks but also there are some downsides. Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak is quickly finding out how it is to be the league’s best goal scorer.

Teams are starting to take runs at Pastrnak. A good way to get him off his game is to drive him into the boards.

More from Chowder and Champions

In the last few games this has become rather noticeable. Even though it was his first game back John Moore dropped the gloves after the Chicago Blackhawks went after Pastrnak.

Thursday’s game was also the 2nd straight game that Pastrnak put his team down a man because he lost his cool. Against the Hurricanes, he dragged a guy down and last night he delivered a cross-check to Connor Murphy.

Pastrnak has to be smarter. He is acting more and more like the old Brad Marchand. No one could have seen this coming from No.88.

I can understand that in the heat of the moment that adrenaline rush can take over but Pastrnak needs to just take a number instead of retaliating.

The Bruins need Pastrnak on the ice. He can’t score goals from the penalty box. He needs to stay calm and let guys like Zdeno Chara give out the punishment.

There is no doubt that Pastrnak is going to have an amazing season. We haven’t seen a player score goals like this in a while. Pastrnak might even break some records.

But he needs to be on the ice in order to do so. If he goes one step too far retaliating to these hits he could end up getting himself suspended.

Next. Connor Clifton’s future shrouded in mystery. dark

David Pastrnak is too valuable and too good of a player to be in the penalty box every night.
