Josh McDaniels will be prepping for his head coaching interviews and it seems the New England Patriots offensive coordinator is already making an exit strategy.

For the last few off-seasons, Josh McDaniels has been one of the hottest commodities on the coaching market. So much so that he accepted an offer to leave the New England Patriots in the 2018 offseason but backed out at the last second.

That hasn’t been scaring teams in 2020. This offseason looks like it will finally be the season McDaniels will leave the team. The New England Patriots are having one of their most frustrating seasons in recent history.

Season after season it seemed like the Patriots were destined to make the Super Bowl. This season things aren’t so certain. I don’t even know if they will make it to the AFC Divisional round.

McDaniels has already been linked to multiple teams. So far the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and New York Giants are leading the charge.

These jobs seem very appealing to McDaniels. He spent a lot of his life in Ohio, so coaching the hometown team would be quite the opportunity. Also, the Carolina Panthers have some talented players that could make the transition a lot easier.

It almost seems like McDaniels is just waiting for a team to make an offer. Albert Breer is reporting that he is already lining up people to be on his coaching staff.

"“If he’s offered the job in Carolina, if he’s offered the job in Cleveland and the structure is right, he will go,” Breer said. “And I don’t say that with much hesitation. I do not think staying here is a consideration if things are right in either of those two places. I can tell you that he’s already lining up staff."

I think we could be seeing a lot of changes in New England this offseason. For all we know both Tom Brady and McDaniels could both be leaving the team. The once strong dynasty is now as shaky as a house of cards.

So it looks like this postseason will be McDaniels last with the New England Patriots, but hopefully he will be able to end his tenure in New England with another Super Bowl victory.
