Boston Bruins: Time for Trent Frederic to be called up
By Sam Minton
The Boston Bruins need some toughness and calling up Trent Frederic could provide just the spark that the team needs.
Things haven’t been going well for the Boston Bruins as of recently. The team has been in a bit of a slump even though they are still one of the best teams in the NHL.
Tuesday night was just another example of Boston’s poor play. They lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets but that wasn’t the worst thing that happened. Tuukka Rask was forced to leave the game after being hit in the head.

There is no other way to describe the hit as dirty. It was an elbow straight to his head.
The sad thing (besides the fact that Rask was injured) is that the Bruins didn’t respond at all. No one was driven through the boards or even pushed.
One thing is very clear, the Boston Bruins need to get tougher. A quick option to solve the problem is calling up Trent Frederic.
Frederic is an absolute beast. Standing at 6’2″ 200 pounds he can drive players through the boards. Frederic has already racked up over 100 penalty minutes this season down in Providence.
Brett Ritchie was someone that the Bruins thought could fill the enforcer role but he was waived by the Bruins. It would also seem awfully drastic to trade for an enforcer at this point.
With David Backes wasting away on the 9th floor and Frederic being a young prospect they have room to give him a shot. Also, thanks to the Bruins stellar play to start the season even if they struggle with Frederic in the lineup they will still be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
The Bruins drafted Frederic in the 1st round. They need to give him a shot.
So hopefully the Boston Bruins will call Frederic up and instill some fear in their opponents. If they don’t I think we could see more players get hurt.
