New England Patriots: Stefon Diggs trade makes AFC East competitive
By Sam Minton
With Stefon Diggs heading to the Buffalo Bills, the AFC East got a whole lot more competitive. Could the New England Patriots not win the division next season?
Things aren’t exactly looking great for the New England Patriots. Sure they signed Matthew Slater, the McCourty twins, and Joe Thuney, but there are reasons to be concerned.
On Monday the Patriots lost two members of the 2019 defense. Jamie Collins signed with the Detroit Lions while Kyle Van Noy signed with the Miami Dolphins.

It will be interesting to see how these guys do in a new location, but there is no doubt that they helped the New England Patriots last season.
Last season Van Noy had 6.5 sacks while Collins had 7 sacks.
With the Dolphins picking up Van Noy they have gotten stronger, but now the Buffalo Bills are strengthening their offense. The team acquired Stefon Diggs on Tuesday night.
With Diggs wanting to leave Minnesota it seemed like a perfect opportunity for New England to swoop in and give Tom Brady a weapon.
But now Diggs is on an up and coming Bills team who seems like they can compete with the Patriots for the top spot in the AFC East.
Adding Diggs to the offense helps Josh Allen a lot. Diggs is one of the best wideouts in the league and could make the Bills offense a problem.
With the Patriots not adding anything to their offense I am starting to get worried. If New England has the same team they won’t get to the Super Bowl. Now they could even lose their own division.
So I hope to see New England make some moves. With pass catchers getting snatched up left and right, the Patriots are running out of options. Right now one of their last-ditch efforts is to possibly trade for Odell Beckham Jr.
So the AFC Easy will definitely be a lot more competitive in 2020 (or whenever they are able to play football).
