The agreement that MLB and the players have come to regarding the start of the 2020 season indicates that Boston Red Sox fans won’t be headed to Fenway Park anytime soon.

This week was supposed to be the start of the MLB season, but like everything else baseball is shut down, and it looks like Boston Red Sox fans will have to wait a while for it to return.

The world is at a standstill as humans across the globe are battling the coronavirus pandemic. Opening Day was supposed to be on Thursday. Fenway Franks were supposed to be enjoyed and we were going to get our first look at the future of the team.

Expectations weren’t sky high for Red Sox fans. The loss of Mookie Betts is something that can’t be solved in one day.

But fans were looking to see how players like Xander Bogaerts and Andrew Benintendi would do at the plate. Would Eduardo Rodriguez cement himself as the ace of the rotation?

This was also a good opportunity for Rafael Devers to establish himself as one of the best young stars on the Red Sox roster after an amazing 2019 season.

Now it looks like we won’t be seeing our favorite players for a while. The players and MLB have agreed to certain conditions for the 2020 season to begin.

Well reading that I can only assume that baseball will not be played for a long time. I think it will be months not weeks before we start seeing life get back to normal.

A key point that also proves this is the fact that MLB won’t start the season until medical experts determine games aren’t a risk to fans and teams. Even if the country starts opening up again experts might still want games to be played without fans.

The latest news from the White House is that social distancing measures will be extended until the end of April. So it looks like that is another month without baseball.

MLB is being smart and making sure that their fans and players are safe. You can’t start the season and then have fans and players start testing positive for the coronavirus.
