New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski a WWE champion
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots don’t know if they will be playing this season but former tight end Rob Gronkowski is already a champion in his latest endeavor.
Right now the New England Patriots are preparing for what will be the most interesting NFL Draft to date. A draft that might be meaningless if a season isn’t played.
But a former player is still performing and some would say quite well. I guess the winning ways don’t stop when you leave the Patriots.

One of the only forms of live entertainment going on right now is wrestling. WWE is still up and running and this weekend was an important one for the company.
It was Wrestlemania, the Super Bowl of wrestling. The event was supposed to happen in Tampa, but that wasn’t the case. Instead of being a one night event it was a two-day affair. Sunday night was one that Patriots fans might be interested in.
WWE has a title called the 24/7 title that has to be defended at all times. At Wrestlemania we saw then champion Mojo Rawley get attacked by a group of wrestlers. As the beating went on Rob Gronkowski entered the screen, appearing on a ledge above the action.
What happened next was absolutely unbelievable. Gronkowski leaped from the ledge knocking down everyone. Gronk pinned Rawley and became the 24/7 champion.
Look at how agile the guy is. Don’t fact check me on this but I’m pretty confident that Gronkowski is the first former New England Patriot to win a belt in WWE.
It seems that Gronk is a major part of WWE’s plans. They wouldn’t just hand him a belt if they thought he would return to the NFL.
If you had any hope that Gronkowski would play for the Patriots again I have some bad news for you. Gronk is enjoying life and won’t be returning to play for New England.
So congrats to new 24/7 champion Rob Gronkowski. A sentence I never thought I would be writing in 2020.
