Boston Bruins: Peter Cehlarik critical of Bruce Cassidy
By Sam Minton
Peter Cehlarik continues to sound off on Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy and it sure seems like he isn’t going to be in Boston for long.
With the Boston Bruins sitting and waiting for the season to hopefully return, some players have returned to their home country. Members of the Providence Bruins have done this as well.
This makes sense seeing that we have no idea how long this will last. We don’t even know if a team will be lifting the Stanley Cup this season.

Peter Cehlarik is one of these players who are back home. After spending most of the season with the Providence Bruins, Cehlarik is back home in Slovakia.
Cehlarik has only played in 23 NHL games these past two seasons accumulating 4 goals and 3 assists. He just always seems to get sent down to the AHL.
With the Providence Bruins, Cehlarik has put up better numbers. In 48 AHL games, Cehlarik has 16 goals and 21 assists.
The numbers show he can be a quality goal scorer, but he always ends up getting sent down. Cehlarik opened up on why he thinks that is happening.
Now I have to say I’m not an expert in Slovak but thanks to Ty Anderson over at 98.5 the Sports Hub we can get a glimpse of what Cehlarik said.
"“I can’t cross the line to persuade Bruins [coach] Bruce Cassidy for good. Sometimes I felt as if he was just waiting for my mistake to send me back to the farm. They know what they are doing. They’ve invested years of development in me. It’s all about trust from a coach I don’t get. I still hear that I’m ready for the NHL, I have it, but when it goes like this, I need a change and a new start. It is high time.”"
That is not a glowing review of Bruce Cassidy. We have gotten the idea that Cassidy is a players coach. He gave opportunities that prior coaches like Claude Julien would not.
Boston Bruins fans know how much Julien loved Ryan Spooner. The forward had skill but because he didn’t play Julien’s brand of hockey he didn’t get any playing time.
When Cassidy took over we thought this was the end of the tyrannical rule. I guess Cassidy and Julien have some things in common.
It seemed like Cehlarik could eventually become a player that makes his way into the NHL roster but that doesn’t look to be the case. With his open bashing of Cassidy, I would assume his days in Boston are numbered.
Now it looks like Peter Cehlarik will be one of those players who had promise but was never able to make an impact in Boston.
