Torey Krug wants to stay, so why haven’t the Boston Bruins re-signed him to a long term deal yet?

The biggest thing on Boston Bruins fans’ minds during the 2019-20 season revolved around Torey Krug. Would the Bruins re-sign him or let him go?

Krug is about to become a free agent and will without a doubt be one of the best players on the market. He is due for a major pay raise.

Krug was having one of the best seasons of his career. With the season currently being suspended, we don’t know what his final numbers would have been.

Prior to the season being put on pause, Krug racked up 9 goals and 40 assists in 61 games. Krug was one of the best scorers on the roster.

It seems like a no-brainer to re-sign Krug. He seems to be the future leader on defense for the Bruins. Zdeno Chara has said he doesn’t want to retire, but how much gas can he have left in the tank?

Someone will need to take over his spot and putting all of that pressure on a young kid like Charlie McAvoy might not work. Krug is ready to be a leader on and off the ice.

Krug also wants to stay in Boston. He has made that abundantly clear. Krug has even said that he is willing to take a pay cut to ensure he stays in Boston. How much more does Krug have to do?

Still, the Bruins haven’t reached out to Krug. I understand we have no idea the ramifications of what will happen to the NHL and salary cap due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Krug seems to deserve something from Boston here.

It would truly be a shame to see Krug leave Boston, He loves the city so much and has become a fan favorite. He even named his dog Fenway!t to i

Next. A toast to Tim Thomas. dark

Hopefully, the Boston Bruins and Krug will work out a deal soon enough.
