The Boston Bruins 2011 Stanley Cup championship team had a virtual reunion and it included a touching moment focused on Tim Thomas.

We are in a weird place in history at the moment but thanks to the 2011 Boston Bruins, we got a little bit of normalcy.

On Tuesday night the team hosted a reunion of sorts on their YouTube page. The 2011 team was watching their Game 7 victory over the Vancouver Canucks.

It was absolutely amazing to watch especially cause the players had no censors on themselves. Gregory Campbell and Brad Marchand loved to go back and forth chirping one another. Also, Tuukka Rask arguably had the wildest comments of the night.

It was also really nice to see some former players get back together with the team. Seeing Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic chopping it up was amazing (also Seguin might be sponsored by Bud Light).

The thing that stuck out to me was the fact that Tim Thomas was apart of the call.

Thomas ended up on the outskirts of the team after his hockey career ended. As we now know he was dealing with some mental health issues due to the concussions he sustained during his playing career.

But then we saw Thomas honored in a game between the Washington Capitals and the Bruins. He was being inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. It was the first time he spoke to the media in a long time.

For awhile Thomas disappeared. We didn’t hear anything from him. It was like he had fallen off the face of the Earth.

On Tuesday night near the end of the stream, Milan Lucic (slightly inebriated) gave a toast to  Thomas that made all of Boston melt.

It was really awesome to see the team come together. Everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves. Also, it was interesting hearing all the stories from inside the locker room that we never knew before.

But, Thomas was reminded that he has a hockey family and hopefully they will continue to chat. Maybe we could even see Thomas return to Boston once hockey is back?

Thomas got the love he deserves from his teammates and I’m glad to see he is doing well. He deserves to be remembered as one of the best goaltenders in Boston Bruins history.
