New England Patriots: Why Jarrett Stidham should excite fans

Jarrett Stidham seems to hold the keys to the New England Patriots offense and that should excite fans in 2020.

It can be easy to think that things will be bad for the New England Patriots in 2020. Tom Brady is gone, Gronk is gone, how could they be good?

But there is a reason to be excited and that reason is Jarrett Stidham.

Stidham signals a new era in New England. It seems like he is not but Tom Brady is a mere mortal. The Patriots needed to move on sooner or later.

Now instead of having an old quarterback who is about to retire, you have a young quarterback who could become the face of the franchise.

Stidham is also a different quarterback compared to Brady. There is no way that Stidham will be as good as Brady (at least right away). But he has some skills that Brady does not.

Brady might have an amazing pocket presence but Stidham can use his legs to escape the rush. I would expect to see some more play-action plays that allow for Stidham to get outside the pocket.

Also, I think simply because Stidham is young and his arm is relatively fresh we could see some more deep balls. Stidham is also known to have great arm strength so N’Keal Harry and Mohamed Sanu might have the opportunity to make some big plays in 2020.

Patriots fans don’t want to see Brian Hoyer be the starter. That would be waving the white flag before the season started. You won’t win with Hoyer as your starting QB.

With Stidham, you have a fighting chance. What do you have to lose? There must have been a reason that the New England Patriots drafted Stidham. At some point, they must have thought he was capable of starting for the team.

So Patriots fans should be excited about Jarrett Stidham. He represents a new era of the New England Patriots. One that is filled with hope and promise.
