Boston Celtics rumors: Danny Ainge anxious to get started
By Sam Minton
Danny Ainge is hoping that the Boston Celtics will be able to open up their practice facilities and allow the team to prepare for the end of the 2019-20 season.
It seems like Danny Ainge is just like us. He misses sports and watching the Boston Celtics just like we do.
Across the country, we are seeing some states opening up and with that, some NBA teams are getting to open up their practice facilities. For instance, the Miami Heat had many players practice at their facilities.

I don’t know if Danny Ainge knows something that the public doesn’t or if this is just wishful thinking, but Ainge is hoping that the Boston Celtics facilities will be able to open up next week.
"“Massachusetts has been one of the slowest in opening things up, so our next phase is we’ll open up our facility,” Ainge, the Celtics’ president of basketball operations, told ESPN in a podcast interview released Thursday evening.“We’re hoping to do it next week,” he added."
This comes just as Boston Mayor Marty Walsh spoke and said that Boston will not be opening up anytime soon. When asked about Ainge’s comments he said that on Monday Ainge should get his answer from Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker.
Walsh also mentioned how sports will be treated like every other industry. All of this doesn’t exactly sound promising. I wouldn’t be surprised if Boston’s facilities remain closed.
The NBA season also seems to be in limbo. The players want to play but that might not be possible. The NBA has thrown around ideas such as converging in Las Vegas or even playing in Disney World. That would definitely be an interesting sight.
Even though players want the chance to play a few warmup games it seems like they might be forced to jump right into the postseason. The NBA might be willing to push the season back as far as December, but time is starting to run out and we still have no clear picture on when basketball will return.
So even though Danny Ainge is hoping to open up the Celtics practice facilities I don’t think he will get his wish. He might have to wait a little while longer before the C’s will be able to practice at the Red Auerbach Center.
