Undrafted free agent Will Hastings has a great opportunity to become best friends with New England Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham.

The New England Patriots are known for their ability to spot talent. A simple visit to Foxboro makes the league question if the Patriots know something that they don’t.

How many players have used their success in New England to get major deals elsewhere? Just this offseason we saw Kyle Van Noy use his time in New England to turn a profit and head down to Miami.

It also seems like every season an unsung hero emerges. Last season we saw guys like Jakobi Meyers and Jonathan Jones emerge as players who could have bigger roles in the Patriots future plans.

The Patriots signed an undrafted free agent who has the potential to make an impact if he cracks the 53-man roster.

Will Hastings numbers won’t make you think that he is a can’t miss prospect, but his physical abilities make him an intriguing option.

The main thing that jumps off the page is Hastings versatility. There is no doubt that Bill Belichick was excited about using him on the special teams unit. If Belichick is really in a pinch he could even have Hastings kick field goals.

When it comes to catching balls, Hastings has the skills to make a difference. He just needs the opportunity to play which could be hard with the current crop of Patriots wideouts.

If he does get a chance this description of Hastings should make Patriots fans very happy.

"“I think Will fits New England’s system perfectly,” said Auburn wide receivers coach Kodi Burns. “He’s going to get open against anybody. I don’t care who it is. It may be unorthodox sometimes, but it doesn’t matter. The guy is virtually unguardable out in space.”"

That is exactly what the Patriots need right now. They need a guy who will make Jarrett Stidham’s life easier by getting open. If Hastings can be Wes Welker type of player that can operate well in the slot he will find success in New England.

Obviously Hastings connection with Jarrett Stidham could make him a player that hets an extra look. There is no doubt that Stidham will be looking his way when he is on the field. If he can make some plays Hastings might be able to etch out a role for himself.
