New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is known for being tough on his players and difficult with the media, but he does have a nice side.

What’s the image that you think of when New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick comes to mind?

Personally, I picture the head coach in his signature hoodie focused on the action on the field or coaching up his team. Most of what we see of Belichick paints him as an unhappy type of guy.

This might be because of the head coach’s insane will to win. He seemingly does whatever it takes to win games.

You could probably count on your hands the number of times you have seen Bill Belichick smile. While Tom Brady and others are jumping joy on the field after a Super Bowl win, Belichick looks like he just won a preseason game.

We rarely get to see the nice side of Belichick. Just recently that has started to change with Belichick showing off his dog Nike during the draft.

Thanks to Reggie Wayne we finally got to see the respect and kindness Belichick has for his players.

As we all know Wayne did not have a long career in New England. After two weeks with the team, he decided that retirement was a better option. It is definitely a more relaxing option.

So Wayne offered to return his $250,000 signing bonus to the team since he didn’t even make it a month. Belichick told him to keep it.

"“I went up to him and I said, ‘Hey, this is what it is. I know got a signing bonus. I’ll give it back, no biggie,” Wayne said, as transcribed by the Detroit Free Press. ”Bill Belichick told me to keep it. Told me to keep it. I’m like, ‘Hey, you ain’t got to bend my arm back twice.’ He told me to keep it. And that was love, man. And I always had respect for him. I’ve heard people and seen stuff that he’s done on camera of his respect for me, and maybe that was just his sign of appreciation. We had a lot of battles against that team, so he told me to keep it. We kept it in the bank. I appreciate it.”"

Belichick is probably the last person I would ever expect to do that. Even if it was a single dollar I would expect him to want it.

Apparently, Belichick isn’t the evil robot that we all think he is. He does care about his players.

The notion of Belichick being the reason that Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady left seems like it’s incorrect. These players might have just wanted a fresh start.

For a while here in New England, we have been pitting Brady and Belichick against each other. We all wondered if Bill could win without Brady. Instead, we should have focused on how we got to watch the greatest duo in NFL history dominate for so long.
