New England Patriots: Pundits continue to underestimate team
By Sam Minton
Peter King is the latest media member to doubt the New England Patriots and there is a good chance the team proves him wrong.
This has been a fun offseason for New England Patriots fans. The rest of the NFL feels that they finally have the upper hand.
There is no doubt that New England will take a step back. That’s just the natural course of action when you lose the best quarterback in NFL history.

Some people are using this opportunity to say that they were the 1st to see New England’s demise. One of the many media members saying the Patriots will be awful is Peter King.
King released his power rankings for the league and he believes that the Patriots are destined for 3rd place in the AFC East.
Let’s take a step back there Peter.
Now saying that the Patriots aren’t going to win the AFC East is very reasonable. Their offense is a giant question mark with Jarrett Stidham taking over. Also, New England’s passing game wasn’t great with Tom Brady last season. Will they be able to improve in 2020?
Still, New England’s defense will still be the driving force. You have a deep secondary and also have pass rushers like Dont’a Hightower, Deatrich Wise Jr, and John Simon.
The Patriots defense will have to win games for the team. Instead of relying on the offense, they will be relying on the defense a lot in 2020.
To say the Patriots are going to end up in 3rd place is just flat out wrong. They will not be that bad. Do you forget who their head coach is? Bill Belichick will ensure that this team is succesfull. The level of success remains to be seen.
Also, Belichick will be able to use this as bulletin board material for the team. He was able to get Brady to think that people were doubting him. This New England team will be out to prove a point in 2020.
Also with New England’s defense, they will still be able to win a decent amount of games. It’s not like they will go 4-12. It’s likely that the team has an average season possibly going 9-7 or 8-8, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they reached double digits in the win column.
So I can’t wait to see the New England Patriots defy the odds and prove everyone wrong once they are able to start the NFL season.
