Reche Caldwell wasn’t in New England for a while but he sure made an impact. The entire New England Patriots community mourns after his sudden death on Sunday.

Sometimes it doesn’t take a long time for a player to make an impact on an organization. Reche Caldwell did that with the New England Patriots.

Now Patriots fans are left mourning as one of their former players they enjoyed watching is gone too soon. On Sunday, Caldwell was shot and killed at the age of 41.

More from Chowder and Champions

Caldwell only spent one season with the Patriots but it was the best of his career. He had 61 catches for 760 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The 2006 Patriots were an interesting bunch. Caldwell ended up being the best receiver among a group made up of Troy Brown, Chad Jackson, and Jabar Gaffney. Those names don’t scream success but some players like Caldwell stepped up to the plate.

Sadly this was one of the few times that Tom Brady failed to reach the Super Bowl. The Patriots were knocked out by the Colts in the AFC Championship.

Caldwell quickly became a fan favorite. After making a big play or getting into the endzone, Caldwell would make some interesting facial expressions.

Now people are quick to give credit to Brady for taking this ragtag group of receivers to the AFC championship but guys like Caldwell deserve some credit. They came into a system that is known for being difficult and found their role.

Caldwell easily could have ended up like Chad Ochocinco but he put in the work and ended up getting a career year.

After playing in New England, Caldwell only played one more season. He always must have had fond memories of playing with Brady and getting to be a member of the Patriots.

So even though Caldwell was only in New England for a season. Patriots fans look back and remember all the good times we had thanks to him during that 2006 season.
