Video surfaced of New England Patriots teammates Cam Newton and Julian Edelman working out at UCLA and it is good to see the duo building chemistry.

We have seen Cam Newton workout with a bunch of New England Patriots wide receivers, but there was one glaring omission, Julian Edelman.

Edelman is the Patriots best receiver. He instantly became best friends with Tom Brady and the rest is history. The duo built a great partnership that helped the Patriots offense be one of the best in the NFL.

But now Brady is gone and Newton looks to be the starter in New England. Edelman will have to get used to someone else throwing him the ball.

It will be interesting to see how the offense looks now that Brady is gone. There is definitely the chance that Edelman loses targets.

One of the main reasons he got so many targets was because he was one of the only wideouts Brady trusted. Edelman was always Brady’s first look on passing plays.

Patriots fans will be glad to know that Newton and Edelman are working out as video from Newton’s Instagram shows.

Newton typically enjoys throwing to larger receivers. With his arm strength, he likes throwing the deep ball and having larger receivers gives him more room for error.

But it’s important to note that Newton worked with Steve Smith. He was one of the best short receivers to ever play the game. Imagine what Newton can do with Edelman?

I would expect Edelman to see a drop in targets but he will still be the No.1 guy. Newton will just spread out the ball a lot more. Guys like N’Keal Harry and Mohamed Sanu should get more targets in 2020.

Newton has done all the right things since joining New England. He has been working out with almost each and every Patriots wideout. Newton is already becoming a leader in New England.
