Prior to Wednesday’s game, Robert Williams had yet to step on the court for the Boston Celtics, but he finally got his shot and showed why he should be playing more.

Wednesday’s game was a great one for the Boston Celtics not just because they won, but because of the great performances from all over the court.

One of these great performances came from Robert Williams. The big man isn’t exactly known for his offensive prowess so Wednesday’s night scoring outburst was quite impressive.

More from Chowder and Champions

Against the Nets, Williams racked up 18 points, five rebounds, and three blocks. An important note is that Williams was 100 percent from both the free throw line and the field.

Now a lot of people consider Williams more of a defensive specialist. Unlike most big men nowadays, Williams doesn’t have a quality jump shot. Most of his damage is done in the paint.

This is a big knock on Williams. Most of his buckets are slam dunks, but there is more to William’s game that he showed off on Wednesday.

First off when watching Williams you noticed his great spacing ability. When teammates drive to the rim he knows just where to put himself to get the open shot.

Also, there is Williams’ athleticism. This was shown off multiple times as we saw Williams slam home alley-oops.

There was one play in the first quarter that really showed this off. Boston sent a double screen to get Brad Wanamaker the ball, then Williams rolled to the rim thanks to another great pick from Gordon Hayward and slammed home the easy bucket.

Finally, we even saw Williams take a mid-range jumper late in the fourth.  What more could he have done?

Williams deserves some more playing time. He brings something to the game that Daniel Theis and Enes Kanter do not. Williams seems to be the perfect backup for Theis. His performance on Wednesday only proves that.

Next. Surprisingly defense is weak link. dark

So hopefully we will see more of Williams because he deserves some more playing time after his performance against the Nets.
