With the New England Patriots releasing Mohamed Sanu, the team must believe in N’Keal Harry’s ability in 2020.

The New England Patriots always seem to have a surprising roster cut before the season begins. 2020 is no different. Mohamed Sanu was cut on Wednesday by the team.

Now the move is surprising for many reasons. One being that the Patriots gave up a second round draft pick for Sanu. This is one of the worst trades in recent history for New England. There is no other way to describe it than a giant bust.

Especially without Tom Brady, the Patriots could have used that pick. They could have even drafted a young receiver who could make an immediate impact.

But also what Sanu’s release shows how confident New England is in N’Keal Harry. After a turbulent rookie season, Harry is now your second wide receiver on the depth chart.

After being drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft, Harry had some high expectations. The Patriots haven’t had the best luck picking wide receivers so taking one in the first round showed how much they liked Harry.

Harry struggled to gel with Brady. getting injured in the preseason didn’t help, but once he came back it still took a while for him to get some looks from Brady.

In 2019, Harry had 12 catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns. That’s definitley not what New England was expecting.

But Harry has the skills and now it seems that he has the perfect quarterback as well. Cam Newton and Harry were meant to play with one another.

Having Newton in New England will help out a lot of wideouts. Unlike Brady, Newton will be willing to distribute the ball all over the field.

Also, Harry is an athletic and large receiver. Newton will be able to throw the deep ball and allow Harry to win those one on one battles. Expect him to be in the endzone.

So watch out Patriots fans, Harry could be on the brink of a breakout season (or at least that’s what New England believes).
