The New England Patriots couldn’t stop Russell Wilson and lost their first game of the season in Week 2.

Whenever the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks play against one another you know it will be a good game. That was once again the case on Sunday night. This time the Patriots were unable to secure the victory.

Even though New England lost there were some good performances that will leave Patriots fans happy. Cam Newton had another great game throwing for nearly 400 yards and a touchdown. The only problem was that he threw his first interception of the season.

Also, Julian Edelman had a career game with eight catches for 179 yards. He was once again the Patriots most dependable receiver.

But Damiere Byrd and N’Keal Harry also had a quality night. They combined for 14 catches and 144 receiving yards.

So let’s get into the three takeaways from the Patriots 35-30 loss in Week 2.

The New England Patriots couldn’t contain Russell Wilson

The best player on the field for both teams was Russell Wilson. The Patriots defense couldn’t stop him at all. After throwing an interception on the opening drive, Wilson had a practically perfect game.

Wilson threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns.

The Patriots pass rush could do nothing to stop Wilson. They failed to contain him and this allowed him to use his feet to extend plays and make some amazing throws.

New England’s front seven simply was not good enough. They gave Wilson too much time and he took advantage of it.
