The New England Patriots have struggled on the ground, but Damien Harris might return soon and save the day for the team.

There are a lot of reasons to be excited as a New England Patriots fan. The team got off to a great start and looks like they could be one of the best in the AFC. So far there is only one problem for New England, the running game.

The fact that Cam Newton is the team’s leading rusher isn’t exactly a good sign. New England wasn’t expecting that to be the case.

With Newton’s string of injuries, they want to avoid any unnecessary risks. If Newton gets hurt the Patriots season pretty much goes down the toilet. They won’t be able to win without him. That’s why it’s crucial to have a running game.

Sony Michel should be leading the team in rushing not Newton.

But so far, 2020 has been another disappointing season for Michel. Through two games he only has 17 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown.

That just isn’t good enough. So far the 2018 first-round pick can only be described as a bust.

New England needs to switch things up in the backfield and they might be getting some reinforcements next week. A fresh face in the backfield might help out the offense.

During the offseason, everyone raved about how well Damien Harris looked. He was even described as the Patriots top running back.

But Harris was forced to miss the start of the season due to a hand injury. He was placed on Injured Reserve prior to the start of the season and would have to miss at least three games to start the season.

After Sunday’s game, Harris will be eligible to return. That could mean a lot for the Patriots.

It seems that Harris is itching to get back and that he is ready to return. The running back tweeted this on Friday.

If Harris lives up to expectations and establishes himself as the top back for New England, Michel could be on his way out. If he doesn’t start performing soon there is no reason for him to be on the roster next season.

It seems like Harris could be just what the Patriots need in the backfield. He will be a breath of fresh air especially is able to gain yards at a much higher rate compared to Michel.

Hopefully we get to see Harris in Week 4 and the running game starts to improve before it is too late.
