Torey Krug is no longer a member of the Boston Bruins and that is a big mistake by the organization.

Well, it finally happened. Torey Krug is no longer a member of the Boston Bruins.

NHL Free Agency started on Friday afternoon and things really heated up at night. That was when it was announced that Torey Krug would be joining the St. Louis Blues.

More from Chowder and Champions

Now it’s not that surprising that Krug ended up leaving Boston. The team seemed far away from a deal with the defender.

The deal that Krug signed with St.Louis was seven years with an average annual value of $6.5 million.

This hurts.

Not only did Krug leave the team, but he joined the team who lifted a Stanley Cup on Boston’s home ice. He is now the Kevin Durant of the NHL.

What hurts more is apparently that Boston didn’t exactly want Torey Krug. He met with the media and said that Boston had no communication with him and that they were never close to a deal.

That is just awful. How could the Bruins not try and bring back one of their best players? Don Sweeney definitley needs to explain himself.

Now the Boston Bruins are without one of their best defenders. Torey Krug is one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL today. He was the quarterback of Boston’s power play.

It will be extremely hard for Boston to replace Krug. Charlie McAvoy will need to step up a lot next season. He will need to be a great goalscorer on top of being impeccable in his own zone.

Also, the Bruins will need Matt Grzelcyk to improve as well. He will now be a key part of Boston’s power play unit and could even see himself as a second pairing defensemen.

WIth Krug’s departure, it seems like Boston will need one of their younger defensemen to step up. Urho Vaakanainen could be someone who sees more NHL minutes.

Now the pressure is on Boston. They need to make a splash or else fans will be angry.

Next. Anthony Duclair a worthy acquisition. dark

So now Torey Krug is gone and the Boston Bruins are left without one of their best players. The 2021 season sure is going to be a wild one.
