New England Patriots: J.C. Jackson deserves to be a Pro Bowler
By Sam Minton
The Pro Bowl roster was announced on Monday and New England Patriots fans will notice one obvious snub.
When it comes to the Pro Bowl, New England Patriots fans didn’t really put a lot of thought into the Pro Bowl. Now things have changed and there’s is one snub that will likely have fans more upset than they might have been in prior years.
When it comes to 2020, Patriots fans don’t really have a lot to look forward to. The team is out of playoff contention and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

With this in mind, some awards and other newsworthy items will take much higher precedence compared to prior years. Now fans will be focused on every single update on the 2021 NFL Draft and the future of the franchise.
Also, fans will be focused on awards like the Pro Bowl much more compared to prior years.
On Monday the Pro Bowl selections were announced and three Patriots got honored. Stephon Gilmore, Jake Bailey, and Matthew Slater earned Pro Bowl nods.
Patriots fans will notice one name that is missing. How on Earth is J.C. Jackson not a Pro Bowler?
Jackson has eight interceptions this season which is second in the NFL. In 2020, Jackson has been the Patriots’ best cornerback.
It’s almost not even an argument but a fact. Jackson deserves to be a Pro Bowler over Gilmore.
Obviously, the stats point towards Jackson, but there’s so much more. Gilmore has missed some time due to injury and has just struggled in 2020.
Gilmore has committed more pass interference fouls compared to prior seasons and has simply been exposed at times.
This will also have a major impact on Jackson’s future. The Patriots and Jackson will have contract conversations in the offseason as he becomes a restricted free agent.
When talking to the front office, Jackson could have used his Pro Bowl nomination as a means to get more money. When looking at his stats it would be hard to disagree with him.
Jackson continues to improve as a player. He has arrived at this point where most fans wouldn’t be too nervous handing him the keys to secondary.
Now the Patriots will likely try and get Jackson to sign a cheap contract (which is par for the course in New England). The thing is he deserves much more and he would likely get if he was to earn a Pro Bowl nod.
So Jackson deserves to be a Pro Bowler and he will be eventually, but his snub in 2020 could have long-term implications.
