Boston Celtics: The one issue that continues to plague team
By Sam Minton
The Boston Celtics lost on New Year’s Day and it illustrated that the team still has a major issue.
There are many reasons to be hopeful about the Boston Celtics. They have some great young stars and seem to have made some quality acquisitions in the offseason. Still, the C’s have one problem that they need to fix.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had another great day at the office. Tatum racked up 28 points and six rebounds while Brown had 25 points and nine boards.

Also, Jeff Teague had a great day off the bench with 12 points. Still, Boston was unable to secure the victory.
The Pistons are a team that the Celtics should be beating. Boston has more talent but what they don’t have is that shooter who can ice the game away.
That was evident on Friday night. Both Tatum and Brown missed shots at the end of the game that could have kept Boston’s hopes alive.
Obviously Tatum and Brown are great players. They are the future of the franchise. That’s why this is an issue that they need to fix.
For the foreseeable future, Brown and Tatum will be the players that Boston looks towards at the end of games. They need to start making these shots.
Of course, when Kemba Walker returns from injury he will most likely be the one that takes these clutch shots. They don’t call him Kardiac Kemba for nothing. If you need a clutch shot, Walker is your guy.
But Walker is nearing the end of his career. He will only be on the Celtics roster for so long. Brown and Tatum need to become the players that consistently knock down clutch shots.
The Boston Celtics need to start playing better. They can’t be losing to teams like the Pistons. It seems as though we will get to see what the team is truly made of with some tough matchups on the docket. The C’s faceoff against the Heat and the Raptors this week.
So if the C’s want to compete for a championship they need to be better in the clutch. Tatum and Brown need to start hitting shots to win games. If not it seems as though Boston could have plateaued at making the Eastern Conference Finals. That isn’t good enough for a sports town of Boston’s caliber.
