Boston Red Sox rumors: Corey Kluber continues to make team look bad
By Sam Minton
The signing of Corey Kluber by the New York Yankees angered Boston Red Sox fans. It was just another missed opportunity to bolster their starting rotation.
But now there might be even more reason for Red Sox fans to be angry.

Kluber is just a few seasons removed from being a Cy Young caliber pitcher. He would have been a perfect addition to the middle of Boston’s rotation.
Not long ago in 2018, he was striking out over 200 batters along with a 2.89 ERA. It’s clear that the 34-year-old still has some gas left in the tank.
Packaging Kluber along with Eduardo Rodriguez and Chris Sale would have made the Red Sox a dangerous team. They might have actually been able to compete in the AL East.
But now Boston looks like they will spend another season being mediocre and the latest news surrounding Kluber shows just how much the Red Sox’s reputation has dropped.
Corey Kluber snubbed the Boston Red Sox.
It appears that the Red Sox might have actually made a competitive offer for Kluber. The problem is that Kluber decided that more money wasn’t worth it.
According to Andy Martino of SNY, Kluber took less money to join the Yankees. Now the Red Sox aren’t explicitly mentioned, but they have been linked to Kluber. It wouldn’t be that shocking if they were one of the teams who offered more money to Kluber.
If this is the case then Boston clearly has a lot of work left to do. They will need to prove to free agents that the Red Sox can compete and that it’s worth coming to Boston.
But there’s no denying that losing out on Kluber like this is rather damning. The veteran pitcher has a home in the area for crying out loud. It’s stunning that they were unable to sign him.
When the news broke that Kluber was headed to New York, Red Sox fans were rightfully angry, this latest news should only increase their rage.
2021 has the potential to be one of the worst seasons in recent history for Boston. There’s still a chance that the Red Sox end up trading Andrew Benintendi.
If that happens Boston could be really bad. There would be a good chance that the Red Sox end up at the bottom of the AL East.
So it seems as though Corey Kluber can’t stop angering Red Sox fans. When he puts on the pinstripes in 2021 he will officially feel the wrath of Red Sox nation.
