After struggling for a few games the Boston Bruins were able to finally secure a victory and correct course on Sunday. If anyone deserves credit Charlie Coyle is near the top of that list.

The B’s were starting to play like the Celtics just a few games ago. The team looked lifeless and showed no effort.

More from Chowder and Champions

After defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 7-3 in Lake Tahoe, Boston would go on to allow 13 goals in two games.

Performances like that are simply unacceptable. Especially in a condensed season, the Bruins need to play much better.

That’s exactly what they did on Sunday.

Boston was able to secure a 4-1 victory over the New York Rangers. It was a complete effort and surely had B’s fans excited.

But one player had an amazing game, and his performance could mean a lot to the Bruins plans moving forward.

Charlie Coyle’s return to form should excite Boston Bruins fans.

After his performance in the 2019-20 season, Bruins fans were hoping that Coyle would continue to light the lamp. 16 goals and 21 assists is pretty good for your third-line center.

But so far in 2021, Coyle hasn’t been the goal scorer that fans were hoping for. Prior to Sunday he only had three goals and three assists on the season.

Well, it’s safe to say that the goal scorer that fans know and love has returned with Coyle scoring two goals on Sunday against New York.

A performance like this should definitley encourage Bruins fans. Hopefully, this means that more scoring will come from Coyle and his linemates.

Having depth scoring is crucial if the Bruins want to make a Stanley Cup run. Time and time again we have seen opponents stop the first line and end up winning games because Boston is unable to score. Hopefully in 2021 that won’t be the case.

Thanks to new look lines the Bruins are getting quality scoring from their top-six forwards. This includes Nick Ritchie who has been surprising with his goal output to say the least. No one expected Ritchie to be a top five scorer on this roster.

Now that Coyle has started scoring goals, the opportunities seem endless for the Bruins. If it wasn’t the mindset already it seems like it’s Stanley Cup or bust for Boston in 2021.

So the Boston Bruins are in a great position. With more and more players finding their footing, they could be lifting the Stanley Cup at the end of the season.
