3 bargain free agents the New England Patriots, Belichick must sign now
New England Patriots must reunite with defensive end Trey Flowers
Could Trey Flowers be the latest player to leave New England, get paid, then return on the cheap and make a major impact?
The deeper we get into free agency, the more a Patriots reunion appears likely, especially if Flowers wants to get his career back on track following a couple of unsatisfactory seasons with the Detroit Lions.
After scoring a big contract following his first stint with the New England Patriots, Flowers has struggled to stay healthy the last two seasons, leading to a release from the team.
Due to injuries, Flowers has only played 7 games in 2020 and 2021 which is a major reason for the decline in sack numbers the last two seasons. But, when healthy, the 29-year-old defensive end is still effective and would be a great addition to the Patriots defensive line.
Aside from his familiarity to the defense and his versatility, Trey Flowers rushing the quarterback on the opposite side of Matt Judon would be a big-time upgrade along that line. With Christian Barmore wreaking havoc in the middle of that line, a Flowers reunion would bolster the defensive line in a big way.
Like Jamie Collins, who had a big season back in 2019 after returning to the team, Flowers could have a similar impact.
Sign him up Bill.
