The line rushes have come out and it looks like Tommy Wingels will be stepping into the Boston Bruins lineup for game 3

Bruce what are you doing? The Boston Bruins had one of their worst gamea of the season on Monday. The only line that showed up was the Bruins first line so a change doesn’t surprise me, but why would you mess with the Bruins fourth line?

According to the line rushes at practice it appears that Tim Schaller will be watching the game from the 9th floor while Tommy Wingels takes his place.

Now do I hate seeing Wingels get some playing time? Nope not at all. Wingels game seems to be built for the playoffs with his physicality, and goal-scoring ability, but why the fourth line?

More from Chowder and Champions

The Bruins fourth line has been a fail-safe of sorts. If the Bruins need a jolt send out the 50’s. They will immediately start checking people into the boards, and will fight for the puck in the dirty areas. This usually would lead to some goals.

The only thing that would make this move reasonable is if Schaller is injured, but then again it’s the playoffs who isn’t injured?

The line that needs a spark is the third line. They have been playing terribly. David Backes has looked slow as molasses, and Riley Nash and Danton Heinen haven’t been able to get anything going in the offensive zone. If Cassidy wants to give Wingels some ice time take out Heinen or Backes.

Bruce Cassidy loves experience

Well, as I am writing this Bruce Cassidy has given his explanation for the move.

Now Wingels may have more experience, but Schaller is a physical player as well. Again Danton Heinen seems like the better option.

Hopefully Wingels will prove me wrong and the Bruins will dominate the Lightning in game 3 and make Cassidy look like a genius. Then again this move seems Claude Julien-esque. Cassidy has coached a fantastic season so far, but this move has me scratching my head.
