The New England Patriots announced the newest inductee to the teams Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

Being an offensive lineman isn’t the most glorious of positions. You are fighting in the trenches every play, but are overlooked by all the flashy plays the skill players make, but lineman got a victory on Wednesday. The New England Patriots announced that Matt Light will be the latest inductee into the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Light actually had a pretty dismal start to his career. He started on the right side of the ball and was terrible, but then Bill Belichick made him a left tackle and Light fit in like a puzzle piece.

Light’s resume is pretty impressive. He is a 3 time Pro Bowler and has 3 Super Bowl rings. Light was tasked with protecting Tom Brady’s blindside and he did a fantastic job.

Now Light tends to be a funny guy, but he was truly honored to be recognized by his former team and fans.

"“It’s the biggest honor that I can think of, where you’re being recognized by the people in the community and all the fans that really, really understood you. It’s hard for me not to bring up the guys that…  I look up to and that I feel deserve this award. It’s very hard to believe that I am now going to be able to say that I’m a Hall of Famer."

Light beat out defensive end Richard Seymour and linebacker Mike Vrabel who were both teammates of his. Watching Light perform in interviews I’m sure he will hold that over his former teammates head.

Light was never the flashiest guy, but he always got the job done. He made sure that his quarterback wasn’t getting drilled every play and that’s really all you can ask out of your lineman.

Matt Light exemplified what it meant to be a Patriot. He was a loyal follower of the “Patriot Way.” He definitely deserves the honor of wearing the red jacket and being cemented into Patriots folklore forever.
