New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski doing the right thing
By Sam Minton
Rob Gronkowski and the New England Patriots have been talking about a new contract. The two sides haven’t reached an agreement, but it looks like Gronk will be reporting to training camp on time.
Rob Gronkowski has made some mistakes this offseason. His horrible press conference for Monster Energy seemed to anger New England Patriots fans. People started to believe that life without Gronk wouldn’t be so bad, but it appears Gronkowkski is making the right decision and won’t be holding out of training camp.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news Tuesday morning to the delight of all Patriots fans.
"“In a year in which there is the potential for some notable training camp holdouts, Patriots’ TE Rob Gronkowski will not be one. Gronkowski is expected to report to Patriots’ training camp July 25 on time, per source.”"
If Gronkowski did hold out chaos would ensue. Fans would be calling for his head. Tension is high in New England (and I’m not talking about Tom Brady and Bill Belichick’s relationship). There seems to be a cloud of mystery over this upcoming season. We know the Patriots will be at the top of the AFC, but how good will they be?

The Patriots will be without Julian Edelman for the first four games and lost a lot of key pieces to free agency. Will the Patriots still have one of the best offenses in the NFL?
With Edelman out the Patriots need Rob Gronkowski to perform. He will be Brady’s favorite target. He is someone who can be relied on to haul any ball that is thrown his way.
Gronk has something to prove
Gronkowski will be the focus of opposing defenses in those first 4 games. If he can put up some big numbers he will once again show that he is truly one of a kind.
Also Gronkowski has to prove that he can stay healthy. We all know Gronk’s history is as long as the Constitution.
The Patriots need Gronkowski to be on top of his game. They need him to be the driving force of the offense.
If Gronkowski has an amazing season he won’t have to worry about a new contract. He will guarantee that he gets paid.

So Gronkowski is making the right move by reporting to training camp on time. When Gronk’s contract comes up again, hopefully the Patriots will do the right thing and re-sign the greatest tight end to play the game.
