New England Patriots: Veteran Brandon LaFell could help Patriots
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots need all the help they can get at wide receiver. Former Patriot Brandon LaFell may be able to help the team out.
The New England Patriots just signed Eric Decker, but they are still relatively weak at wide receiver. With Brandon LaFell being released by the Cincinnati Bengals, the Patriots may be eyeing a reunion.
LaFell spent two seasons in New England. During his time with the Patriots, 111 catches, 1,468 yards, and 7 touchdowns. He was able to win a Super Bowl in 2014 and was a major part of the Patriots offense.
The Patriots could be missing a good chunk of their receiving corps. With Julien Edelman, suspended, and Malcolm Mitchell and Kenny Britt still rehabbing injuries, the Patriots still have some work to do.

I wouldn’t expect LaFell to be a top wideout, but he would be a great depth signing. He already knows the Patriots playbook and could help the new guys out.
On the field, LaFell could be a solid 3rd or 4th receiver. Especially with Edelman out for the first month, why wouldn’t you give LaFell a chance?
If the Patriots don’t make any moves they will need some inexperienced players to step up in a big way. We may be seeing Jacob Hollister, and Braxton Berrios getting a lot of targets.
These guys would be shocking the world if they had great seasons. The Patriots love short slot receivers, but can they make Berrios an immediate threat?
There is no doubt that having Tom Brady as your quarterback makes you a better player, but you would be putting a lot of pressure on the rookie. Berrios was primarily looked at as a great punt returner who may help in the passing game. Now he will have to be a great receiver as well.
Brandon LaFell is near the end of his career, but he could definitely help out the New England Patriots.
