It appears that the New England Patriots paid attention to Rob Gronkowski’s comments on Wednesday and gave the tight end a nice raise.

The next round is definitely on Rob Gronkowski.  The New England Patriots tight end didn’t seem to be too concerned when asked about Odell Beckham Jr’s massive contract. I guess we now know why.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Gronkowski will be getting a nice little raise this season.  The Patriots added $1 million in per-game bonuses and $3.3 million in incentives to the big man’s deal.

Gronkowski is definitely deserving of the raise. He is one of the best tight ends in the league and deserves to be paid well. Even the rather cheap Patriots realize this.

As much as players say that contracts are never on their mind, I think it would be stupid to believe it never enters a player’s mind. Now that Gronkowski got his raise he can just continue to focus on his play.

After a turbulent offseason, it seems that the Patriots and Gronkowski’s relationship is back to normal. At times it seemed like his days in New England may be numbered, but now everything seems to be fixed.

An important season

It makes sense that the Patriots gave Gronk a raise now. They did the same thing with Tom Brady a few weeks ago.

These two will have to carry the offense for the first 4 weeks of the season. No Julian Edelman means that Gronkowski is far and away the Patriots No.1 target.

Gronkowski will have defenders all over him to start the season. He will definitely have to earn that $3.3 million.

We all know that Gronkowski seems to be a frugal guy. He is smart and has been living off his endorsement money. Still I think he will appreciate the bump in pay.

Hopefully this move shows that the Patriots are confident in Gronkowski and don’t expect him to leave anytime soon.
