After a dominating 5-1 victory in Game 5, the Boston Red Sox have won the 2018 World Series.

The Boston Red Sox are the 2018 World Series Champs!

The Red Sox were the best team in baseball in 2018, going 108-54 in the regular season and 11-3 in the postseason for a combined 119-57. The Red Sox were absolutely dominant all season long, and especially in October.

The Red Sox won the World Series 4 games to 1, out-scoring the Los Angeles Dodgers 28-16. Boston lost a heartbreaker in Game 3, as Max Muncy ended the game on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th.

The Red Sox responded in a huge way the very next day in Game 4, as they scored all 9 runs from the 7th inning on, bringing them 1 win away from World Series glory.

David Price got the start in Game 5, much to the surprise of many fans, as everyone expected ace Chris Sale to toe the rubber against the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw.

Price proved everyone wrong yet again, going 7 strong innings, giving up 3 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk while striking out 5. Price went on an incredible stretch from the 4th inning to the end of the 7th, retiring 12 batters in a row. David Price was dominant yet again in a series-clinching game, putting any remaining doubts to rest.

Steve Pearce won the World Series MVP,  going 4/12 (.333) with 3 home runs, 8 RBI, 5 runs scored and 4 walks. Pearce had huge hits in both Game 4 and Game 5.

In Game 4, he hit a solo home run in the top of the 8th inning, tying it 4-4. In the top of the 9th, Pearce hit a double with the bases loaded, driving in 3 and giving the Sox a comfortable 8-4 lead. In Game 5, Pearce opened the scoring with a 2-run home run on the 6th pitch of the game, jump-starting the Sox, and giving them an early 2-0 lead. The eventual World Series MVP would go yard yet again in the 8th inning, with a solo shot off Pedro Baez, giving Boston an extra insurance run.

The Red Sox Game 5 victory was capped off after Chris Sale struck out Manny Machado to end the game and ultimately, the season. Sale entered the game for the 9th inning after Joe Kelly struck out the side in the 8th. The Boston ace also picked up three strikeouts of his own, ending the game and clinching the title for the Sox.

With this Championship, the Boston Red Sox have now won 9 World Series and their 4th since 2004. We could not have asked for a better ending to the best season in Red Sox history.
