Gordon Hayward had the best game of his young Boston Celtics career and led the Boston Celtics to a 115-102 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Man oh man! The Boston Celtics started 2019 in fantastic fashion. The C’s were able to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves, but more importantly seem to have one of their top players back.

This has been a rough season for Gordon Hayward. Who would’ve thought that he would be coming off the bench in his 2nd season with the team? This shows how deep Boston is, but also highlights Hayward’s struggles this season.

So far this season Hayward is averaging 26.7 minutes a night with 11.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. These aren’t the numbers the team was banking on when he signed with the team.

More from Chowder and Champions

Hayward torched the Timberwolves on Wednesday night. He scored 35 points with 5 assists.

The most impressive part of Hayward’s night was his efficiency. Hayward hasn’t been a great shooter so far this season, but on Wednesday he was lights out. Hayward shot 14-18 from the field and was 4-7 from behind the 3 point line.

This isn’t the 1st time this season that Hayward has dominated Minnesota. Back at the beginning of December, Hayward scored 30 points and had 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Can we just play the Timberwolves for the rest of the season?

This is the Gordon Hayward that the Boston Celtics need. The guy who will be an effective shooter and take over games when needed to.

If we see more of this Gordon Hayward the Celtics chances of making the NBA Finals will get greater and greater.

Next. Marcus Morris is the All-Star no one saw coming. dark

It has taken a while for the Boston Celtics to gel and truly put together a solid string of wins. What a better way to ring in the new year than by going on a nice winning streak.
