New England Patriots: Rob Gronkowski proved he is still the best
By Sam Minton
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski proved in the AFC Championship that he is still the best tight end in the NFL.
There is no doubt that this has been a disappointing season for New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. He struggled mightily but it looks like Gronkowski isn’t done just yet.
Gronkowski was phenomenal in the AFC Championship. He wasn’t just a quality pass catcher either, Gronk made some great blocks that led to some amazing runs.
Gronk had 6 catches for 79 yards, but this can all be boiled down to one catch. On an important 3rd down, Gronkowski caught a jump ball with Eric Berry draped all over him and got the first down. That’s the Gronk we know and love.

With Gronkowski’s struggles this season, NFL fans were wondering if Gronkowski lost his spot as the best tight end in the league. Maybe “Gronk Jr” Travis Kelce was now the big man on campus.
Not quite.
Kelce only had 3 catches for 23 yards. He may have had a touchdown, but Kelce had little impact on the game. Gronk was making big catches while Kelce was non-existent late in the game.
So even though we are near the end of Rob Gronkowski’s career it looks like he still has some greatness left in him. Gronk is still able to make big plays when the Patriots need him.
For all we know this Super Bowl could be Gronkowski’s last. There is no better way to end a career than by winning a Super Bowl.
But for now, let’s appreciate all that Rob Gronkowski does for this New England Patriots team. The tight end is definitely going to be a major factor in the Patriots Super Bowl success.
One thing is for certain after that amazing AFC Championship. When you need a tight end to make a catch, Rob Gronkowski is your guy.
