New England Patriots free agency: Stay calm everyone
By Sam Minton
The New England Patriots have had a less than stellar offseason, but there is no need to get worried, this is just par for the course.
Sometimes life can be difficult for New England Patriots fans. While other teams are signing flashy players to expensive deals New England tends to not do a whole lot.
The Patriots need some WR depth. Right now it appears that Phillip Dorsett is your No.2 wideout. Not exactly the situation you want to put your 41-year-old quarterback in.

New England was in on Golden Tate, Adam Humphries, and Cole Beasley, but the Patriots failed to get any of these guys. The price was too high.
The Patriots were even in on Antonio Brown. They offered a better deal than what the Oakland Raiders would eventually offer up for the All-Pro wide receiver.
Once again this has been what some would call a disappointing offseason.
The team did make one move that will definitely pay off. Michael Bennett is now a Patriot and will dampen the blow of losing Trey Flowers. Bennett is a supreme pass rusher racking up 9 sacks last season.
Now even I am a little concerned. The Patriots depth at wide receiver is basically non-existent. It’s Julian Edelman and a bunch of other guys. The drop off is rather severe.
But this is the New England Patriots we are dealing with. The team that has 6 Super Bowls. The team that has the greatest head coach-quarterback duo of all time. I’m pretty sure they could make anyone a Pro Bowl caliber wide receiver.
So even though things seem like they might be falling apart in New England everything is just fine. The Patriots will win the AFC East and will probably make it back to the Super Bowl. It is just what the team does.
