The Boston Celtics are emerging as favorites to land Kemba Walker, but is he worth the massive investment?

There is no doubt that one of the Boston Celtics weakest positions is point guard. The team is going to lose Kyrie Irving and possibly Terry Rozier.

The only good thing is that the Celtics have money to blow. They can go out and land a major free agent if they really want to.

Recent reports have the Celtics as the favorites to land Kemba Walker who is coming off the best season off his career.

In the 2018-19 season Walker was phenomenal. He averaged 25.6 points, 5.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game.

There is no doubt that Walker is a great player. With his experience in Charlotte he seems to be a great leader as well. The issue is that Walker doesn’t fit in with this Boston Celtics team.

Twenty-eight definitely isn’t old, but I think Walker is headed on the down swing of his career.

The Boston Celtics are undergoing a youth movement. Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Marcus Smart are the leaders of this team. Walker would just bog these young guys down.

Also this means that you would lose out on Terry Rozier. Even though Rozier struggled last season I think he deserves a second chance. If he gets the minutes he deserves he won’t disappoint.

Another thing to consider is that Walker has stated time and time again how he wants to return to Charlotte. I don’t see why he would leave.

Walker can get the most money from the Hornets and he doesn’t have to deal with a lot of pressure. If he came up to Boston that pressure would be cranked up to a 10.

So even though it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if the Boston Celtics signed Kemba Walker, their best bet is to lay off the point guard.
