Robert Williams will have a much larger role with the Boston Celtics this season, but is the young big man ready for the big time?

The Boston Celtics are in an interesting predicament. With the departure of Al Horford and Aron Baynes the team has a big problem in the frontcourt.

Baynes and Horford were important players. They played serious minutes for the C’s. Their loss is a big one.

Also the Celtics recently waived Guerschon Yabusele. Even though Yabu didn’t play a lot of minutes in his first few seasons this was his chance to prove he could be an everyday NBA player.

Now Enes Kanter will most likely be the starter, but Robert Williams will have an increased role. He could even play close to 20 minutes a game.

Williams is extremely athletic. He is a great defender but his offense is lacking. A lot of Williams scoring output is reliant on dunks.

If Williams wants to be successful he needs to be a much better scorer. He needs to develop a perimeter game and move better with the ball.

The NBA game has extended outside of the paint. Williams isn’t like Tacko Fall. He can’t use size to his advantage and dominate down low. Even Fall can move well with the ball.

Williams is definitely going to be getting an increase in minutes. He will probably be a significant part of your 2nd unit. The question is can he rise to the occasion.

Boston will need him to score. If Williams can average close to 10 points a game that would be amazing and prove that he is here to stay.

The time has come for the ‘time lord’ to prove that he is ready for the big time. Boston Celtics fans are hoping that he doesn’t let the team down.
