By Sam Minton
Former New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett recently revealed what it is like to be traded by Bill Belichick.
Something that fans can’t truly understand is the feeling of being traded, but former New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett gave us a glimpse into what it is like.
Trades can be a contentious topic for fans. In a blink of an eye you can see one of your favorite players shipped off to another team.

Brissett appeared on the Pardon My Take podcast and described the conversation he had with Bill Belichick after being traded to the Indianapolis Colts. It was surprisingly quite short.
"“Yeah, [Belichick] said that, at the time Julian [Edelman] had gotten hurt and we were looking for receivers. And that was pretty much it. I just froze sitting in front of him. I wasn’t talking. He wasn’t talking. He told me why, so I just got up and left.“[Belichick] was like, ‘Alright, good luck.’ And I was like, ‘Alright I guess. I don’t know what the hell is going on right now.’ And then I had to get on a flight and go to Indy,” Brissett said."
Now this does sound like classic Bill Belichick. You can almost picture him delivering the news, but you think he would have been a little kinder. Belichick could have at least thanked the guy for what he did for the team.
Brissett spent most of his time as a backup, but when called upon he helped the New England Patriots win. When Tom Brady was suspended for 4 games in 2016, Brissett started in 2 games and threw for 400 yards.
The trade has boosted Brissett’s career. With Andrew Luck hurt he was able to get some consistent playing time and has proven he can be a starting quarterback when called upon.
When you think of being an NFL player you think of all the great things that can come from it. The fame, the money, and the notoriety.
What you don’t think about is the drawbacks. The possibility that at the blink of an eye you will have to move from one city to the next. Being traded definitely isn’t a fun experience (unless you are demanding one).
It seems like in all aspects of his life that Bill Belichick chooses his words carefully and doesn’t care about hurting anyone’s feelings.
