Boston Bruins player preview 2019: Time for Torey Krug to show worth
By Sam Minton
Torey Krug is entering the final year of his contract and it is time for him to show just how much of an impact he has on the Boston Bruins.
For all, we know this could be Torey Krug’s last season on the Boston Bruins so we better enjoy it. Hopefully, that ends up not being the case.
Boston has a ton of talent on defense. Guys like Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo have already grown into some of the top defensemen on the roster.

But Krug has had some amazing seasons for the Bruins his best coming two seasons ago. Still, Krug has been a consistent star on the power play for Boston.
Last season Krug ended the year with 6 goals and 47 assists and a -2 personal rating. Can’t really ask for better offensive numbers.
The only issue in Krug’s game is in his own zone. His small stature makes it hard for him to get players off the puck and help out Tuukka Rask.
This season I want to see Krug get at least 10 goals and also reach 50 assists. With him being the quarterback of the power play this shouldn’t be hard.
The more important stat for me will be seeing Krug’s personal rating improve. This will be a sign that he has improved in his own zone. Which would hopefully mean some more wins for the Bruins.
More importantly though I think we will see Krug sign a long term contract in Boston. He has already stated how much he wants to stay with the team. He even said that he would be willing to take a home town discount.
If the Boston Bruins didn’t re-sign Torey Krug it would be a terrible mistake. He is going to continue to put up a ton of points.
But no matter what I think Krug will have another succesful season for Boston in 2019.
