The New England Patriots added some wide receiver depth but the move they made on Tuesday came at a high price.

We all know that the New England Patriots needed some help at wide receiver. The depth at the position was as thin as a paper towel.

So the Patriots decided that they needed to make a move. On Tuesday they traded a 2nd round pick to the Atlanta Falcons for Mohamed Sanu.

Now the Patriots definitely needed a wide receiver. Josh Gordon is hurt and besides him your best receiver is Julian Edelman. After that it is quite the drop off.

So far this season Sanu has 33 catches for 313 yards and a touchdown. That is pretty good but I am not expecting a lot from Sanu. He is 30 years old and his best days are behind him.

One thing is for certain, Sanu is not worth a 2nd round pick. The Patriots insanely overpaid for him. If New England was going to give up that much I would have rather they got Emmanuel Sanders.

The Patriots are also 7-0. They are going to get to the Super Bowl with ease. Why overpay for an aging wide receiver?

Hopefully, Sanu proves me wrong. I hope he plays well and the Patriots get the most out of him. With Tom Brady as your quarterback that is a lot easier.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Sanu struggles. We all know how hard the New England Patriots playbook is. Also, Brady isn’t known to trust new guys quickly. I would rather see New England dedicate more plays to Phillip Dorsett.

Next. Demaryius Thomas was waste of time. dark

So don’t be surprised if Mohamed Sanu becomes a bust especially since the Patriots traded a 2nd round pick for him. He has high expectations to live up to and prove that he was worth the investment.
