It seems like every year Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy gets hurt and this year things haven’t changed.

There is no doubt that Charlie McAvoy has a ton of talent. When he is at his peak he looks like he can be the Boston Bruins top defensemen.

But one thing has really hampered McAvoy’s abilities. It seems like he is always injured.

More from Chowder and Champions

This season that has not changed. On Monday the Bruins announced that McAvoy was headed to injured reserve. It looks like he won’t be playing for a while.

McAvoy has been dealing with a lower-body injury since December 23rd. With McAvoy’s injury history this is rather concerning.

Since 2018, McAvoy has had 5 different injuries including a heart issue and an MCL injury. These aren’t things that you easily recover from.

It seems like McAvoy is going to be injured every season at this point. That doesn’t add up to a long career.

With the number of injuries that McAvoy has racked up, I am starting to get concerned. It’s like the dude has an injury curse.

The Bruins just signed McAvoy to an extension. If he misses the majority of the season each year that would be a waste of money.

This also hasn’t been a great season for McAvoy. He has yet to register a goal and has 13 assists.

McAvoy needs to be a goal scorer as well as a defensemen. That’s what we were all expecting.

The future of the team is in McAvoy’s hands. He is poised to be one of the team’s top players. Especially with guys like Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, and David Krejci retiring rather soon.

So I hope that McAvoy will be healthy soon because the Boston Bruins will definitely need him. He is one of the best young defensemen in the NHL.
