Boston Celtics rumors: Evan Turner return not necessary
By Sam Minton
The Boston Celtics are rumored to be interested in Evan Turner and while a return to the team would be fun, it is definitely not necessary.
This is the time of the year where Danny Ainge works his magic. So of course the Boston Celtics names are being thrown around a lot of players.
Boston could use a big man such as Andre Drummond, or Karl-Anthony Towns, but there is a new player that came out of left field. Reportedly the Celtics are interested in Evan Turner.

Turner was apart of the 4 team trade that most notably sent Clint Capela to the Atlanta Hawks. Now on the Timberwolves, it is unknown if Turner will stay on the team. With the buy out possibility, some teams are interested in Turner including Boston.
Turner hasn’t exactly been lighting the world on fire. Since leaving Boston his numbers have decreased rather quickly. This season he is averaging 3.3 points per game.
The only possible reason to bring Turner back is due to his personality and familiarity with the team. He would be a great addition to the locker room and be a veteran presence.
But Turner isn’t worth the investment. The Celtics would have to get rid of a player to open up a roster spot. Frankly, I would rather see what young players like Grant Williams and Carsen Edwards can do. Turner would just eat up valuable time for these guys.
I think Boston might see just how far this team can take them. The price for guys like Drummond and Towns might be too much for the C’s. Let’s see what Gordon Hayward, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum can do in the playoffs.
It might be fun to have Evan Turner back in Boston but I wouldn’t count on it happening.
