Even though the New England Patriots traded Chandler Jones he doesn’t seem upset at the team or at Bill Belichick.

The New England Patriots are known for being cold when it comes to getting rid of players. Bill Belichick can love you at one second and then later will want to get rid of a player.

New England’s draft skills are questionable to say the least. Sure they have hit on guys like Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, and Dont’a Hightower but they have also missed on guys like Chad Jackson and Cyrus Jones.

One of the guys that they hit on was Chandler Jones. They drafted him in the first round and he was a key part of the Patriots defense.

But then Jones was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. Their amazing draft pick was gone.

Jones would go on to dominate in Arizona. He has 60 sacks and 98 QB hits in 4 seasons with the Cardinals.

One wouldn’t blame Jones for being upset with the Patriots for getting rid of him, but Jones understands why New England dealt him.

"“When I spoke to Bill (Belichick) when I got traded, he told me it was best for the team; this was the best decision for our team,” Chandler Jones told The Athletic in a recent interview. “At the time, I didn’t understand. That next year, they won the Super Bowl, so I did understand that was best for the team — saved money, and they actually went and won. There were no hard feelings at all. I understood it’s a business and it was what was best for the team.”"

The move seemed to work out for both parties. After Jones’ departure, the team won 2 Super Bowls.

New England could use Jones right now. The Patriots defense will have to step up with an aging Tom Brady. Having a pass rusher like Jones would be a big help.

If Jones was still on the Patriots he could have been one of the greatest pass rushers in team history. He would without a doubt be on his way to the hall of fame.

But I am glad to see that Jones doesn’t hold a grudge against the New England Patriots. We see that too often in sports today.

Maybe we could see a return to the Patriots before Jones decides to call it a career.
