The NHL season is indefinitely suspended and the league is trying to come up with ideas so the Stanley Cup can be awarded. A recent one would have the Boston Bruins playing in New Hampshire.

With the NHL season on pause, it is unknown if the Stanley Cup will be awarded in 2020. That would be terrible for the Boston Bruins who are the No.1 team in the NHL at the moment.

Boston was dominating this season. It looked like they would make up for losing at home against the St.Louis Blues in Game 7. Now they might not get a chance to avenge that defeat.

But the NHL is thinking of contingency plans to ensure that the playoffs ae played and that the Stanley Cup is awarded. One of those ideas involves playing games at a neutral site.

Elliotte Friedman reported that North Dakota was a possible location and on Monday it was revealed that New Hampshire could be another possible location.

This would definitely be interesting. New Hampshire has never been the home of professional sports. UNH rules the state when it comes to hockey. The state has hosted NCAA tournament games so it is not too far fetched to have games take place there.

If this was to occur I can’t imagine fans would be allowed. No one will want to be squeezed in a college arena right after a global pandemic.

But it would be pretty cool to have the NHL in NH. The Bruins would have a slight advantage even with no fans due to the proximity to their home arena. If fans were allowed Boston would have a crazy home ice advantage.

Still it seems that the chances that a team lifts the Stanley Cup in 2020 get slimmer and slimmer by the day. We have no idea how long it could be until it is safe for players, coaches, and other staff to be in attendance for a game.

So it remains to be seen if the NHL will come back, but New Hampshire could help out the hockey world by hosting games. The Boston Bruins might even lift the Stanley Cup in the state. That would be quite the sight.
