The New England Patriots are known for their unique draft strategy and they have a chance to pick the next Jimmy Garoppolo in 2020.

This offseason leaves the New England Patriots with a lot of possibilities. They will be able to show off their draft skills.

In recent history, New England has made some quality picks. The selections of Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, and Dont’a Hightower stick out as some great picks by the team.

But for every one of these, there are the Chad Jackson’s and the Cyrus Jones’ The busts that are out of the NFL in the blink of an eye.

Another draft pick that stands out is the selection of Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy G looked like he was the heir apparent to Tom Brady but he was suddenly traded to the San Francisco 49ers.

In San Fran, Garoppolo got his chance to start and even made it to the Super Bowl last season. Unlike Brady, he was unable to lead his team to victory.

But right now the Patriots probably wished they had a guy like Garoppolo. He is more established and proven than Jarret Stidham. Unlike Stidham, Garoppolo has actually started regular season games as a member of the Patriots.

New England has an opportunity to fix their mistake. They can draft the next Jimmy Garoppolo.

So who is this guy? Patriots fans I introduce you to James Morgan. We know that there is some level of interest due to the fact that the team had a videoconference meeting with Morgan.

Like Garoppolo, Morgan comes from a small school. He started his college career at Bowling Green, and eventually ended up at Florida International.

We really saw Morgan flourish at FIU. In his junior season, he had 2,727 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.

Also like Garoppolo, Morgan showed off his skills in the East-West Shrine Game. He was one of the best players on the field completing 9 out of 14 passes and throwing for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Morgan has the size and the arm strength to play in the NFL. He is taller than any QB on New England’s roster and was throwing bullets in the East-West game.

Also the Patriots wouldn’t have to move up to draft Morgan. They would likely be able to use a late round draft pick to select him. It’s the definition of a low risk, high reward move.

So don’t be surprised if the New England Patriots take a chance on Morgan in the 2020 NFL Draft.
