New England Patriots: Team won’t tank in 2020

The New England Patriots will be a different team in 2020, but that doesn’t mean they will fall to the bottom of the NFL.

The days of the New England Patriots steamrolling through the NFL are over. They are not the powerhouses that they once were.

That’s just the case when you lose Tom Brady. The man is the greatest quarterback of all time. Taking a step back is simply inevitable.

But there seems to be a contingent of fans who think that the Patriots will be terrible in 2020. Some even say that the team will tank so that they can draft Trevor Lawrence in 2021.

That will not be happening.

The New England Patriots are not the Cleveland Browns or the Detroit Lions. All of a sudden they are not going to be the worst team in the entire league.

New England still has one of the best defenses in the NFL. Stephon Gilmore will lead the secondary and the Patriots should have a solid pass rush with guys like Deatrich Wise, Chase Winovich, and Lawrence Guy leading the way. The Patriots also drafted Josh Uche who could make an impact right away.

Also, there is the Bill Belichick factor. No Belichick coached team is ever going to tank. The hooded one only knows how to do one thing… win games.

Belichick will enter 2020 with plenty of motivation. He will want to prove that he can win without Tom Brady.

So you could say I was shocked to see that Bleacher Report has New England going 4-12. Really?

The Patriots will compete in 2020. They might not win the AFC East but they will be a wildcard team. There’s no way they will be 4-12. I think they won’t dip below .500.

I can’t wait for the New England Patriots to be successful in 2020 and shock the world. Everyone thinks they will be down and out due to Tom Brady’s departure, but we will be just fine. We still have Bill Belichick.

So don’t worry New England Patriots fans. Everything will be okay. The Patriots are not tanking and as long as Bill Belichick is head coach, they never will.
