In a town hall with Boston Bruins season ticket holders, Kevan Miller mentioned that he had yet another surgery. The defensemen can’t catch a break.

It seems like Kevan Miller is the unluckiest person on the entire planet. The Boston Bruins defensemen can not catch a break.

Miller has yet to play during the 2019-20 season. Even when he last played Miller wasn’t that healthy. In the 2018-19 season, he only appeared in 39 games.

When Miller is on the ice he makes an impact. He is a heavy-hitting defensemen who has a quality slap shot. He isn’t exactly amazing in the offensive zone, but he gets the job done.

Miller also changes the course of games when he is on the ice. Opposing players are less likely to take runs at players like Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak when Miller is on the ice.

This entire season Miller has been rehabbing. Even after the season was put on pause it was believed that Miller wouldn’t be able to return.

On Thursday, Miller divulged that he had yet another setback. At this point, there are too many setbacks to count.

This is just horrible news. It seemed like Miller was nearing retirement before this latest development, it seemed like all his injuries have taken too much of a toll. Now it seems like a near certainty.

How can you let Miller back on the ice? There is a large chance that Miller gets reinjured rather quickly.

Also, Miller isn’t the youngest man on the ice. He is 32 years old and will probably be 33 when he next plays again. After all his injuries you have to question the caliber of player you will get whenever he manages to return.

The Bruins also have a bevy of young defensemen in the system. Players like Jakub Zboril and Urho Vaakanainen could step up and play in Miller’s role of 3rd pairing d-man.

Kevan Miller is someone you love to watch. Whenever he is on the ice he is entertaining whether it is blasting a shot or delivering a devastating hit. But his time is up and he needs to retire.
