New England Patriots rumors: Hopefully Rob Ninkovich is wrong
By Sam Minton
Former New England Patriots pass rusher Rob Ninkovich believes that Brian Hoyer will be the starter in Week 1. If that is the case it will be rather disappointing.
One of the big questions for the New England Patriots in 2020 is who will be under center to start the season. Will it be Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer?
Once Tom Brady left immediately everyone thought that Stidham would be the starter but that has changed. Now more and more people seem to think otherwise.

One former player seems to have an idea of who will get the starting job. I really hope that he is wrong. Rob Ninkovich believes that Brian Hoyer will be the starter when the 2020 NFL season kicks off.
I get what Ninkovich is saying. Hoyer is experienced and has been under center a lot more than Stidham. In an offseason where we don’t know when players will be able to practice.
Still, I hate this move. This is the equivalent of laying up in golf. I would rather the Patriots start fresh even if it would be risky.
We know what we will get from Hoyer. He will be a serviceable QB. He might be able to get the Patriots into the playoffs but I can imagine him going 8-8.
With Stidham we don’t know what we will get. Stidham could go 6-10 or he could 10-6. The possibilities are endless.
It’s time to see what Stidham can do. Everyone has been hyping him up this offseason and it seems like he could be a special player. Why not give him a chance?
Ninkovich isn’t wrong. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Patriots play it safe and start Hoyer, but it will be disappointing. We want to see something new in New England.
So hopefully Ninkovich is wrong and we will get to see what Jarrett Stidham can do in 2020.
