The New England Patriots cut ties with Brian Hoyer and Tom Brady is sad to see his friend leave the team.

All the cuts have been made and the New England Patriots have their desired roster for the 2019 season and are now preparing for their Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. When you look at the sideline a familiar face will be missing.

The New England Patriots committed to the future and decided to release veteran backup Brian Hoyer and make Jarrett Stidham the new heir to Tom Brady’s throne.

Now this was definitely the correct decision. Stidham played very well in the preseason and looks like he could handle the offense if he needed to take over.

The only thing that might make Patriots fans nervous is the fact that Brady and Hoyer are best buds. We saw how much Brady appreciated having Hoyer on the roster. Need I remind you of the whole Jimmy G situation?

Hoyer was someone that Brady didn’t need to worry about taking his job. It gave Brady a sense of security.

Also Hoyer’s preparation of the defense paid dividends in the Super Bowl. A lot of players credited Hoyer for his ability to emulate the Rams offense.

Brady commented on the departure of Hoyer and it seems like the QB really wishes that Hoyer was still on the roster.

There is one part of this that is kind of concerning. Brady touched upon how Hoyer could calm him down. Without that guy in the locker room could we see Brady’s career end sooner than if Hoyer was on the roster?

Brady and Bill Belichick have butted heads in the past. Belichick has definitely calmed down with age, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear about more battles between the two legends as their career’s progress.

Next. Patriots whiffed on two draft picks. dark

So it might not seem like a major move, but the departure of Brian Hoyer may send ripple effects through the New England Patriots organization.
